The Rhenus Group has been appointed by Correios, the state postal and logistics service of Brazil, as the logistics provider for the UN Climate Conference COP 30. The event will take place from November 10 to 21, 2025 in Belém, in the state of Pará. Correios will handle national coordination as strategic logistics partner, while Rhenus will be responsible for the international transport of the cargo for the United Nations.
Transportation chain from Bonn to Belém
According to the company, the transport of the UN shipments begins at the Bonn site. From there, Rhenus transports the freight via the São Paulo–Guarulhos and Viracopos airports to Brazil. The import takes place under the framework of a temporary customs procedure. After the conference concludes, the return of
the goods via Frankfurt to Bonn will be organized.
Rhenus Brazil coordinates the international operations and works in collaboration with Correios. The aim is the timely and secure handling of all logistical processes for the conference.
„The partnership with Correios to support COP 30 underscores our commitment to responsible logistics and global cooperation for the benefit of future generations,” says Tobias Bartz, CEO of the Rhenus Group. “Brazil is one of our most important global hubs for supply-chain activities and a key center for our activities in the LATAM region, supported by our highly qualified local teams. With a strong international network and deep regional expertise, we are well positioned to strengthen supply chains in Brazil and across Latin America. Our participation builds on extensive
experience, including our role as the official logistics partner of COP 29 last year. We look forward to contributing to the success of COP 30 and driving the transformation toward more sustainable logistics worldwide.”
Experience with international major events
In 2024, Rhenus was already the official logistics partner of COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. In addition, the company took on transport and infrastructure logistics for the Belgian Olympic team at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Rhenus was also involved logistically at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Moreover, the company was named as the official freight forwarder for trade shows at the Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Centre in Saudi Arabia.
Focus on low-emission transport solutions
At Rhenus, the aim is to
achieve net-zero emissions by 2045 through CO₂-light/low-CO₂ solutions. To this end, the logistics provider relies on alternative propulsion systems, the expansion of intermodal transport chains, as well as digital tools for capturing and reducing emissions. The air freight service RheGreen avoids up to 40 percent of CO₂ emissions by selecting the most efficient aircraft. Additionally, the Emissions Dashboard and the Transport Mode Optimizer provide digital support for an environmentally oriented routing and mode-of-transport modeling.
After completing the logistics services for COP 30, Rhenus plans to prepare a detailed emissions report. According to the company, this report after completion of the operation will document the CO₂ footprint of the transports, promote transparency, and strengthen planning of more conscious logistics in line with global sustainability standards.
