The Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) will launch the funding program "Environmental Protection and Safety" (US) on August 4, 2025. Kögel draws attention to this in a recent press release. Companies engaged in commercial goods and works transportation, investing in environmentally friendly, safety-relevant, or efficiency-enhancing vehicle equipment, are eligible for subsidies, according to the trailer manufacturer. The funding replaces the previous De-minimis program.

Measures will be subsidized up to 80 percent of the eligible costs. The maximum grant amount per company is 33,000 euros per year. This amount is based on a funding rate of 2,000 euros per

heavy commercial vehicle registered to the respective company as of December 1, 2024.

Applications can be submitted starting August 4, 2025, at 9:00 AM via the BALM eService portal. The application deadline ends on September 1, 2025, or sooner if the allocated budgetary funds are exhausted. The awards are granted on a first-come, first-served basis—the so-called windhundprinzip.

Eligible Vehicle Technologies and Equipment

The funds can be used, among other things, for trailer technologies that go beyond legal requirements. These include:

  • Lightweight trailers and components
  • Trailers equipped for combined transport
  • Long trucks Type 1 (Euro Trailer)
  • Low rolling resistance tires and
  • aerodynamic devices
  • Trailer telematics systems
  • Electrified trailer axles
  • Refrigerated boxes with high insulating effects
  • Electrically operated transport refrigeration units
  • Safety features such as tire inflation systems or tarpaulins with anti-theft protection

BALM provides a complete list of eligible equipment features on its website under the "Funding Programs" section.

Kögel Trailers with Numerous Eligible Options

Kögel points to a range of trailer models and equipment eligible for funding that will be offered at the start of the program. These include the Cargo and Light Plus series, the craneable Rail versions, the Euro Trailer (Long truck Type 1), as well as the

refrigerated vehicles of the Kögel Cool series. The offer is complemented by options such as the Kögel Telematics trailer telematics system, aerodynamic devices, and lightweight components made of aluminum, such as attachments and rims.

Kögel also offers support in selecting suitable products and in applying for funding.
