Bosch Secure Truck Parking, Infoware GmbH, and Toll Collect want to improve the search for parking along the federal motorways. From now on, Infoware is expanding its route planning MapTrip Maps as well as the navigation solution MapTrip Truck and provides dispatchers and drivers with real-time data on the occupancy of public truck rest areas.
According to their own statements, both apps also offer the possibility to directly reserve bookable parking spaces from the Bosch Secure Truck Parking network. The basis for further development is the new Stellplatz-Informationsdienst (SID) from Toll Collect.
Pilot phase underway
With the start of the pilot phase in July 2025, the service already provides occupancy data for around half of all public truck rest areas on the federal motorways, it is said. Under the newly created brand Bosch Road Services, various digital services for truck traffic would be bundled – including Bosch Secure Truck Parking and the new service Bosch Truck Charging. Dr. Jan-Philipp Weers, Director, Bosch Road Services:
“With the
extended app features, we are creating a comprehensive digital process—from viewing real-time occupancy of public parking spaces to booking secured private parking spaces. This underscores our expanded portfolio, which we are now offering with Bosch Road Services. Dispatchers will in the future have full transparency about the situation along the route, and drivers will benefit from less stress, better planning, and more safety.”
MapTrip Maps and MapTrip Truck
Using the SID data, dispatchers and drivers could view in real time whether public parking capacity is available. If they were fully occupied, users could directly access free parking spaces at truck stops and corporate parking lots and reserve them.
Dispatchers can use the extended features with MapTrip Maps to plan tours more transparently and efficiently, while truck drivers can access the new information via MapTrip Truck, it says. When a parking space is booked, drivers receive booking details such as the name and address of the facility automatically on their mobile device via an interface in the
telematics system through the MapTrip Truck app.
In the app, available parking spaces are also displayed sorted by remaining driving time. This reduces stress and pressure when searching for truck parking and helps keep track of the remaining driving time.
Ziel bis Ende 2025
The Stellplatz-Informationsdienst (SID) is a joint project of Toll Collect, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV), the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM), and the Autobahn GmbH des Bundes (AdB).
“We are pleased with the MapTrip integration of our SID data. When partners such as Bosch Secure Truck Parking and Infoware build on it, we demonstrate the concrete value that open traffic data can provide—for drivers, for logistics companies, and for greater safety on German motorways.”
Optimierte Tourenplanung
The combination of real-time data and digital booking optimizes route planning. Drivers would be guided specifically to free or reserved parking spaces, which makes an important contribution to avoiding unnecessary detours and safety-critical parking. The new solution can also be integrated into existing systems or used independently. Thomas Schulte-Hillen, founder and managing director of Infoware:
“With the integration of Bosch Secure Truck Parking and Toll Collect's SID data, we contribute to solving a central problem in the transport industry: the uncertainty whether a suitable parking space is available at the destination. This is not only a technological advance but a real practical gain for the entire industry.”
