The Federal Council supports the registration and tracking of truck trips, including via smartphone, for the collection of truck tolls. This is stated in a draft of the fourth law "to amend toll-related provisions".
At the same time, there is a positive stance toward the regulation that the vehicle classification into
CO2 emission classes, according to the requirements of European law, should in the future be reviewed every six years and, if necessary, corrected. This is stated in a statement by the Federal Council.

The use of the truck toll system should, according to the government draft,
in the future also be possible via an app on a mobile device. This eliminates the need for the previously required installation of a so-called "On-Board Unit" in the truck.
For the new possibility to log in on the user’s own mobile phone, a legal basis should be created to enable
the data to be collected, stored, used and transmitted by the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) and the operator within the framework of control, it says.
