Rohrmax, based in Vienna, specializes in pipe cleaning and sewer rehabilitation. According to their own information, the company employs 500 people and operates a fleet of 290 vehicles. This includes vehicles for sales and administration as well as large commercial vehicles for sewer cleaning. Operations are conducted nationwide from several locations: Vienna, St. Pölten, Eisenstadt, Graz, Kapfenberg, Villach, Linz, Steyr, Wels, and Salzburg.

Use of Webfleet

For managing the entire vehicle fleet, Rohrmax uses the telematics and fleet solution Webfleet. According to a joint press release from both companies, the goal is to improve the performance and cost efficiency of the vehicles and make operations more transparent.

"We have a real-time overview of our entire fleet nationwide. All the

requirements necessary for efficient fleet operations are met. This gives us enormous security in planning deployments, and also saves us time and costs," says Managing Director Robert Bele.

Monitoring Vehicle and Consumption Data

A central element is the recording of mileage and running performance, especially for leased vehicles. Rohrmax aims to ensure that contractually agreed mileage limits are not exceeded. Additionally, the company monitors fuel consumption to compare driving behavior within individual vehicle groups. There are drivers who drive more fuel-efficiently and others who do not, according to Bele. By collecting comparable data, the latter changed their driving behavior and became more fuel-conscious.

"This not only brings cost savings but also CO2 savings," explains the managing director.

Documentation and

Complaint Handling

The implemented solution also allows access to historical vehicle and deployment data. Rohrmax uses this function particularly for customer complaints. GPS records prove how long a vehicle was in operation on-site. Without this proof, in the past, the company occasionally billed less as a gesture of goodwill. Now, a legally secure documentation is available that avoids such discussions.

Optimized Deployment Planning

For vehicle dispatching, Rohrmax relies on live location tracking.

"Only by knowing where our vehicles are, can deployments be efficiently planned," explains Bele.

The location can be retrieved at any time without having to call the drivers. This allows new assignments to be directly integrated into the existing route.

Real-time Maintenance Management

Another application area is

maintenance monitoring. Rohrmax utilizes the ability to view the status of maintenance and repair needs online. According to Bele, this can avoid vehicle downtimes that occur when damages are only addressed after being reported by the driver. The real-time display allows workshop appointments to be planned early and minimizes disruptions in daily business operations.

Relevance to the Industry

The practice at Rohrmax shows how digital fleet management systems not only support the planning and operation of large vehicle fleets but also bring legal and economic benefits. Especially for companies in road freight transport with a high utilization rate of vehicles, the combined use of real-time data, consumption control, and maintenance monitoring offers potential for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
