Agile Robots has fully acquired the former BMW spin-off Idealworks and purchased all shares in the company. As early as 2023, the provider of AI-powered automation had first entered. The BMW Group remains, despite the sale, a long-term partner of Idealworks and will continue the collaboration in the area of robotics, as stated.
Robotics solution with automation platform, simulation technology and AMR
Idealworks was founded in 2020 and offers
a robotics ecosystem that includes the automation platform “AnyFleet”, the simulation technology “iw.sim” and the autonomous mobile robot “iw.hub”. More than 850 of these robots are in operation at BMW plants worldwide, according to the company. In addition, Idealworks serves customers from other industries such as manufacturing, logistics and warehousing.

Agile Robots pursues, with the acquisition, the goal of expanding its activities in the international market for industrial automation. The company was founded in 2018 and employs, according to its
own statements, more than 2,300 employees at locations in Germany, China and India. In addition to Idealworks, the group includes Franka Robotics, Bär Automation and “audEERING”.
