For the seventh time, the trade magazine busplaner has been awarding the "International Busplaner Sustainability Award" (IBNP) since 2013. The ceremonial award presentation to the winners will take place on 14 April 2026 during the BUS2BUS trade fair in Berlin. Innovative and sustainable vehicle models, components, and services in the bus industry will again be awarded. In addition, special prizes will be awarded in three categories. Applications can still be submitted until 30 January 2026.

Climate change and its effects on humanity are taking increasingly threatening forms in the form of droughts, floods, wildfires and severe storms. This makes strategies to cope with it more urgent than ever. Top of the agenda: solutions in the transport sector, which has continued to increase its CO2 emissions in recent years rather than reducing them. Besides policymakers, the vehicle and components manufacturers are especially needed here—and their efforts to find alternatives to the traditional combustion engine as well as many other more sustainable solutions for the environment and climate. Also in passenger transport, as part of the EU-level Clean Vehicles Directive, increasingly new paths are being sought.

Strengthening the industry's sustainable actions

Ideas

for forward-looking new developments are therefore in demand, which HUSS-VERLAG accompanies and supports with the busplaner Sustainability Prize. Because the goal of the biennial competition is to strengthen manufacturers and service providers within the bus industry as well as bus operators regarding the development of sustainable products and in sustainable action.

“The bus, as a mobility guarantor, is indispensable as a means of transport in our cities and also across the country. Therefore, we are pleased to contribute with our Sustainability Prize by recognizing innovative products and developments and presenting them to a broad public,” says HUSS-VERLAG managing director Rainer Langhammer.

Applications by January 30

Vehicle models from electric to fuel-cell buses, vehicle components and

equipment, accessories, telematics, service and infrastructure will be awarded. The sustainability level of the product or service is taken into account in the evaluation as is the quality of the application.

The categories

The prizes are awarded in fifteen categories. All submitted applications are evaluated by a high-caliber jury of industry experts according to a scoring system.

Furthermore, three special prizes go to destinations and experience worlds, the hospitality industry, and cities and city trips, all of which are

proposed and awarded by the busplaner editorial team. In a gala ceremony on 14 April 2026 on the eve of BUS2BUS in Berlin, all prizes will be ceremoniously presented.
