DPD (Schweiz) AG has introduced a cloud-based solution for the management and traceability of its mesh-wagon fleet. According to the company, the asset-management platform from BOX ID is being used to reduce losses and manage inventories more efficiently. The system enables real-time monitoring of more than 800 mesh-wagons, used by around 4,500 business customers.

Effizienzsteigerung durch automatisierte Prozesse

The solution automatically records the location, usage and condition of the mesh-wagons. According to DPD, inventories at customers and in the company's

own depots can be digitally checked at any time. When a previously defined threshold is reached, the system automatically triggers a replenishment of load carriers. This allows the company to avoid bottlenecks and improve supply security in the network.

Weniger Verluste, geringere Kosten

DPD operates in Switzerland 13 depots and over 1,000 pickup parcelshops. In the past, manual management of the mesh-wagons led to high losses and additional costs, as it was unclear where individual load carriers were located. With

an estimated value of 600 to 700 euros per unit, replacement procurements added up considerably. According to the company, the loss of load carriers could be drastically reduced through the BOX-ID solution.

Technologische Basis mit IoT und Cloud-Anbindung

The platform uses IoT-capable tracking devices, QR codes and other data sources to capture all movements of the mesh-wagons. Based on these data, the system automatically creates overviews and analyses. The solution is operated as Software-as-a-Service and is ISO 27001-certified as well

as GDPR-compliant according to the provider.

Proof of Value in zwölf Wochen

For companies that want to initially test the system's benefits, Box ID offers a Starter Edition. It enables a well-founded decision about later deployment within twelve weeks. The costs amount to 695 euros per month according to the provider. During the test phase, a limited number of load carriers will be equipped with digital trackers. A customer success team accompanies the rollout and supports integration into existing processes.
