Germany is gaining a new player in the charging infrastructure market: "ENGIE Vianeo," a brand of the international Engie Group, is launching with a focus on electric heavy-duty traffic. The official market entry took place on July 16, 2025. The aim is to provide freight forwarders, logistics companies, and location partners with a powerful and reliable charging infrastructure — with 100 percent renewable energy, modern fast-charging technology, and a user-friendly digital system.
Engie Vianeo is thus responding to the increasing demand for electric charging capacity in long-distance transport. Heavy-duty traffic is considered a particularly challenging segment of the mobility transition. Large vehicle batteries,
tight supply chains, and high utilization require powerful, always available, and strategically located charging points. Engie Vianeo not only handles planning and construction, but also operation and financing. For location partners — such as motorway services, logistics sites, or municipalities — no investment costs are incurred. By 2030, the brand plans to establish 25,000 charging points across Europe, including 1,500 specifically for electric trucks.
Fast-Charging Infrastructure for E-Trucks Developed in France
As a reference, the company brings experience from successful projects in France. In La Galande near Paris, the first European fast-charging corridor for E-trucks along the Lyon–Paris route was realized. Five stations
with up to 480 kW charging power enable a range of 300 kilometers within 45 minutes. In Dardilly near Lyon, Engie Vianeo operates a combined bio-gas and E-charging station with 400-kW chargers and photovoltaic system, designed for vehicles up to 44 tons. And as part of the ECTN Alliance, a 900-kilometer E-Truck corridor from Avignon to Lille is currently being created. There, Engie uses a relay principle: drivers switch while the vehicles charge — saving time and significantly reducing emissions.
Engie's Market Entry in Germany through Own GmbH
The market entry in Germany complements the existing commitment of Engie Deutschland GmbH. Under the
"e-buddie" brand, charging infrastructure solutions for industry, commerce, and real estate have been offered for years. Together with Engie Vianeo, "e-buddie" will form the company's integrated e-mobility offering in the future.
