During the fourth round of the GWcycles campaign, around 800 participants worldwide collected over one million bicycle kilometers. The logistics company had ten tonnes of plastic waste removed from rivers and coastal regions in Southeast Asia. The implementation was carried out in cooperation with the Berlin-based environmental technology company CleanHub.

Record result for the fourth edition of the campaign

The international logistics service provider Gebrüder Weiss concluded the fourth edition of its bicycle initiative "GWcycles." Between April and October 2025,

around 800 participants worldwide covered a total of 1,047,998 kilometers by bicycle. Compared with the previous year, which saw 768,800 kilometers and 600 participants, the company recorded a significant increase.

Environmental project “Cycling for the Seas”

The campaign was run under the motto “Cycling for the Seas” and linked physical activity with a contribution to marine protection. Gebrüder Weiss had announced in advance that for every 100,000 kilometers ridden, one ton of plastic waste would be removed from rivers and

coastal regions in Southeast Asia. On the basis of the total distance achieved, ten tonnes of plastic waste will be removed by the end of the year.

Cooperation with CleanHub

For the implementation of the environmental project, Gebrüder Weiss works with the Berlin-based company CleanHub. CleanHub develops and operates systems in heavily polluted regions for the collection, separation and recycling of waste and organizes the proper disposal of the collected material.

“Who rides, changes something – for themselves and the

environment. That is what our GWcycles cycling initiative stands for,” says Frank Haas, Head of Marketing and Communications at Gebrüder Weiss. “And it shows how much power is in community. We are proud of our bike community, which fortunately grows year by year and acts across borders for environmental protection.”

Participation and Organization

To provide additional motivation, Gebrüder Weiss introduced a kilometer ranking and stage evaluations. The biggest individual contribution was made by Kristian Buljan from Germany with 19,022 kilometers
