The Berlin-based startup H₂ Power ’n’ Heat has, according to its own statements, successfully completed its financing round via the Companisto Business Angel Network, raising over one million euros in capital. In addition to numerous business angels, co-investors also participated. Due to high demand, the round was terminated early.

Mobile energy supply without emissions

The young company supplies portable fuel cell systems, which, according to its own statements, can provide between 2 and 7.2 kilowatts of power. They are intended to supply construction sites, tools, mobile phone masts, or camping facilities with electricity – without exhaust gases, noise, or hazardous substances. The system operates completely off-grid and uses a self-developed hydrogen cartridge that can be swapped without tools. Since it

is transportable without hazardous goods classification, it is considered particularly durable.

With the 5-kilowatt module in 19-inch format, H₂ Power ’n’ Heat additionally offers a scalable platform that can be combined into systems of up to 100 kilowatts. The fuel cell systems are therefore suitable for both mobile and stationary applications.

Partners and market launch

Partners such as H2 Core Systems and Ostermeier Hydrogen Solutions are already relying on the technology. Other manufacturers from the industry are, according to H₂ Power ’n’ Heat, in advanced discussions and plan pilot projects. With the new financing, production is to be scaled up in cooperation with one of the largest automotive suppliers and market entry accelerated.

Experienced founding team

The founders Christoph Fiala, Volker Förtsch and Herbert Clemens bring decades of experience in hydrogen and automotive engineering. Their joint goal is to replace diesel generators worldwide with low-maintenance and clean fuel cell systems.

What does this mean?

The approach of H₂ Power ’n’ Heat is particularly interesting from a practical perspective. If the technology gains traction in the market, diesel generators on construction sites or in temporary supply structures could become a thing of the past in the future.

A serial production start has not yet been announced, but the combination of mobile fuel cell technology and an easily manageable hydrogen cartridge could, in the long term, create an emissions-free alternative for off-grid energy supply – especially where battery solutions reach their limits.
