Relief at Steyr Automotive: After contract manufacturing for Volta Trucks, following Volta's renewed insolvency, did not bring the hoped-for volumes, the path forward now lies with SuperPanther. Both sides contribute what they do best: SuperPanther provides the know-how around electric drive systems, Steyr contributes long-standing experience in vehicle manufacturing and modern production facilities. The goal is to produce the
vehicles to high industrial standards – and at the same time the collaboration marks SuperPanther's entry into the European market.
Manfred Eibeck, Deputy Chairman of Steyr Automotive's Supervisory Board, said at the signing:
„Steyr Automotive highly values the partnership with SuperPanther. We will combine Steyr's long-standing experience in vehicle construction and modern production capacity with SuperPanther's development know-how in
the field of electric drive systems.“
The constructive collaboration of all parties involved, which led to the contract being concluded in a short time, should be highlighted.
The partnership is part of a string of positive developments at Steyr Automotive: In plastic parts painting, around 80 new employees are currently being hired, and also in the area of MUT
upfits – among other things for waste collection and street cleaning – order intake remains solidly positive.
What does that mean?
Currently a lot of good news from Steyr: BMW has started production of the new Gen-6 electric motors, and at Steyr Automotive the next step is being taken to finally assemble trucks in series again in the future.
