The new ESD paper cushioning bag, which the Wurzbacher packaging specialists Froeb are presenting at FACHPACK 2025 (September 23 to 25 in Nuremberg), relies on paper instead of plastic. According to a press release prior to the trade fair, the fully paper-based solution reliably protects sensitive electronic components against electrostatic discharge (ESD) and mechanical stress, making it suitable
for shipping, storage, and transportation in the electronics industry.
The new ESD paper cushioning bag, according to the manufacturer, is made from fully recyclable paper-based materials with a weight of 85 grams per square meter. Its stable embossing is said to allow for a pronounced cushioning effect, ensuring that even delicate components are shock-proof protected during storage and
shipping.
An integrated shield effectively protects sensitive electronics against electrostatic discharge – and meets the strict requirements of DIN EN 61340-2-3, according to the provider. This means tested conductivity according to internationally recognized standards, as required especially in electronics manufacturing and the service sector.
The ESD paper cushioning bag is also expected to contribute to sustainability. According to
Froeb-Packaging, the material can be completely recycled in existing waste paper streams without any plastic or coatings and is intended to serve as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic bubble wrap. It is available in two standard sizes (14.5 × 21 centimeters and 20.5 × 30 centimeters) but can also be customized to size.
