The drugstore chain Müller has commissioned the AutoStore specialist Element Logic to build its first "AutoStore" system in the central logistics center in Ulm. According to the company, the new automated solution is intended to modernize and make the existing intralogistics structure more efficient.
The decision for the system was made in the course of planned
renewals of logistical processes that have developed over the years. According to Müller, the special solution now commissioned was tested and validated in advance together with the software provider Mercatis.
In Ulm, product data (SKU) from various internal and external locations are consolidated, orders for multichannel distribution across Europe are picked and shipped. According to the
company, the planned first phase of construction of the AutoStore system comprises 46,000 container positions, 120 "R5pro" robots and 23 ports. In addition, a combined port solution consisting of carousel and conveyor technology is planned as a test unit for a potential robot-picking expansion.
As Müller further reports, the project was developed in cooperation with IWL
Consulting, Mercatis, AutoStore, and the company's internal logistics team. According to Element Logic, the system is designed for a comparatively small number of robots with a high throughput.
In addition, long-term service agreements have been signed according to the companies involved. Full commissioning is planned for October 2025 – 20 weeks after the project start. (sv)
