Staff shortages, cost pressure, supply bottlenecks, and outdated IT structures present multiple challenges for hospital logistics. However, they also accelerate innovative solutions. How the hospital of the future might look is something 126 exhibitors from six countries and 120 speakers will explore from May 6 to 7, 2025, at med.Logistica in Leipzig. The seventh edition of the International Congress and Trade Fair promises to be more extensive than ever, with an expanded exhibition and a significantly broadened range of lectures and best practices during the congress, according to the organizing company, Leipziger Messe.

Starting May 6, Leipziger Messe aims to become the central meeting point for hospital logistics in German-speaking countries. That is when decision-makers from clinics and the industry will gather for

professional exchange and networking.

“This year, med.Logistica is larger than ever before,” rejoices project director Philipp Schneider. “The strong growth of med.Logistica and the great interest from the industry clearly show: hospitals are actively searching for new technologies and solutions to optimize their processes and position themselves for the future.”

Significantly increased number of exhibitors

According to the organizers, the exhibition will showcase 126 exhibitors from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, as well as Sweden and Switzerland, providing a current market overview. Compared to the previous event in 2023, the number has almost doubled (from 68 to 126). Highlights of the exhibition include the joint stand of the Danish-German Hospital Alliance and the Start-up Area with twelve emerging companies. Among them are drone

providers that wish to redefine transport routes in daily hospital operations with their technologies.

The contributions in the specialist program have also grown from 80 to 120 compared to the previous event. More than 120 speakers from seven countries (DACH region as well as China, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Czech Republic) aim to demonstrate through best practice examples how processes in daily hospital operations can be made more efficient. Key topics this year include robotics, automation, and the use of artificial intelligence.

Opening with keynotes on Gen Z, AI, and crisis prevention

How young talents, AI, and global crises are turning the healthcare industry upside down will be highlighted by Dr. Kerstin Stachel, founder of HealthcareBrain, during the opening on May 6. In the

subsequent keynote “Hospitals are critical infrastructure – what does that mean?” Dr. Ralf Hartmann, Commander and Medical Director at the Bundeswehrkrankenhaus Berlin, will discuss the contradiction between efficiency optimization and crisis prevention.

Other highlights at the opening event include awarding the Leipzig Innovation Prize for Hospital Logistics and the Thesis Award for the best student work. The med.Logistica will officially open on May 6 at 10 a.m. in CCL, Hall 1 (Berlin), by host Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe.
