The US software provider Blue Yonder announced on May 6 the acquisition of all assets of Pledge Earth Technologies Ltd. (“Pledge”), including the supply chain sustainability solution for freight owners, supply chain management companies, and logistics service providers. Blue Yonder's platform will now be expanded to include globally accredited CO2e emissions reporting in logistics, enabling users to monitor their own emissions as well as those of their trading partners and suppliers.

According to the provider, Pledge's software solutions are designed to assist supply chain teams and logistics service providers in companies to

meet their sustainability goals and reporting requirements for Scope 3 emissions. Pledge was founded in 2021 in the UK and has committed to accessibility and transparency in the measurement and reporting of freight emissions. Companies could thus independently measure, manage, and reduce their carbon footprint, it is said.

Verifiable Emission Calculations

The automated capture and exchange of shipping data in the Pledge solutions are intended to ensure accredited and verifiable emission calculations for all modes of transport, including air, land (e.g., truck, rail, inland ship), and sea transport. Customers who expand their

Blue Yonder solutions with this new feature will, according to the provider, receive emission reports that comply with the Global Logistics Emission Council (GLEC) framework developed by the Smart Freight Center (SFC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14083: Greenhouse Gases, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data.

“The ability to easily and accurately quantify emissions is a big win for our customers' sustainability initiatives, but it's about more than that - it's also about what you can do with this information,” said Saskia van Gendt, Chief Sustainability Officer at

Blue Yonder. “By gaining more insight into the environmental impact of their logistical operations, companies can find ways to reduce costs, improve accountability for the transport emissions of logistics service providers, and strategically optimize inefficient operations.”

“At Pledge, we believe that technology is a powerful catalyst in the fight against climate change,” said David de Picciotto, CEO and co-founder of Pledge. “By joining forces with Blue Yonder, we are multiplying our reach and impact, providing the world's largest corporate supply chains with the tools they need to measure, capture, and reduce carbon.”
