Since autumn 2024, Peterstaler Mineralquellen has been constructing a new logistics hall at the Bad Rippoldsau site. SSI Schäfer is installing a fully automated channel warehouse there for efficient storage and loading of production goods. Commissioning is planned for the end of 2025, as the company announced in a press release on August 7.

According to the company, Peterstaler achieved a sales record last year with more than 200 million bottles sold. The company attributes this growth mainly to the positive sales development

of the “Black Forest” brand. To increase capacities, the plant in Bad Rippoldsau is being reactivated and equipped with a new bottling line since January 2025, which is supposed to handle 35,000 PET bottles per hour.

The channel warehouse planned by SSI Schäfer is structurally limited to a height of nine meters and offers over 2,200 pallet spaces on 1,400 square meters in two hall blocks. A conveyor track in the hall floor transports the pallets from production to the warehouse. The "SSI

Lift & Run" shuttle system in conjunction with the autonomous load handling device "SSI Orbiter LHD" takes care of storage and retrieval. According to the provider, the system is designed for low building heights and high performance, allowing for over 60 double cycles per hour.

The conveyor technology in the middle of the hall also directs the pallets to the truck gates. Loading is fully automatic. The processes are controlled via the "WAMAS Material Flow System" (MFS), which will be integrated into Peterstaler's

existing ERP and WMS environment. The "WAMAS Control Center" monitors and visualizes all processes in the warehouse and provides performance indicators.

The installation of the system begins in early summer 2025. Peterstaler cites the broad product and service portfolio of the provider SSI Schäfer as the reason for the choice.

“With SSI Schäfer, we have found a partner who understood our requirements for efficiency, flexibility, and future-proofing and implemented them into a tailor-made solution,” explained Managing Director Klaus Bähr in the announcement. (sv)
