The charter provider Chapman Freeborn, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group, has, according to its own statements, carried out three cargo flights from China to Turkey. With the transports, nearly 300 tonnes of solar modules were flown to Istanbul. The aim was to safeguard importers' inventories ahead of the tax change on solar modules taking effect.
Operations carried out with Boeing 777F aircraft
The transports took place between Shanghai Pudong Airport and Istanbul Airport. Cargo aircraft of the
type Boeing 777F were operated by Qatar Airways and Silk Way West Airways. In total, 447 pallets with a weight of more than 292 tonnes and a total volume of 685 cubic metres were transported.
According to the company's information, the flights took place within a week on 3, 8 and 10 September 2025. Two transports were carried out with Qatar Airways, one with Silk Way West Airways.
Planning under tight time constraints
Chapman Freeborn reports that the
capacity limits of the aircraft used were fully utilized. The Boeing 777F has a maximum payload of 100 tonnes and around 550 cubic metres of loading volume. Through close coordination with the airlines, optimal loading was made possible. The company provided customers with real-time updates on departure and arrival times.
“This operation has demonstrated Chapman Freeborn's ability to work closely with all parties involved, drawing on our extensive global network as well as decades of experience to ensure
the timely execution of three complex cargo deliveries,” says Gerhard Coetzee, Vice President Cargo.
