According to its own statements, Austrian Post is continuing to push ahead with the expansion of its logistics infrastructure in order to cope with the rapidly rising parcel volume.

For one, sorting capacities in the logistics centers are required for the increasing number of packages; for another, the post

bases would have to be modernized and equipped with contemporary workplaces.

New facility in Weiz

A new post base has now been inaugurated in Weiz, located about 25 kilometers from Graz. The new building has a usable floor area of around 1,900 square meters.

It will replace the old

delivery base in Weiz and is intended to relieve nearby locations, it is said. Almost 60 employees there would, according to the information, sort and deliver 2,300 packages per day, as well as letters, flyers, newspapers and magazines in Weiz and the surrounding communities.

The new post base is

modular in construction, in order to be able to respond flexibly to changed requirements in the future. The building has been equipped with the infrastructure for a complete electric fleet. Heating is provided by district heating, in addition the roof has been greened and prepared for a photovoltaic system.
