As a DVR member, BPEX aims to be more involved in initiatives such as "Vision Zero" in the future and wants to sharpen public awareness of the special requirements of parcel delivery. Consideration in road traffic is a joint task.
This also applies to delivery personnel who are out and about in public spaces in all weather conditions. BPEX Chairman Marten Bosselmann:
"Our delivery personnel make
an important contribution to supplying the population. They operate in heavy city traffic, often under difficult conditions. Many road users still lack the awareness that delivery personnel are not only driving but also working in public traffic areas. That's why safe workspaces, such as designated loading zones, are all the more important. We are committed to bringing these realities more into the public consciousness and continuously
improving safety and working conditions."
The aim is to incorporate the experiences of member companies from delivery practice into the work of the DVR and to collaborate with other stakeholders to raise awareness for more traffic safety in urban areas. DVR President Manfred Wirsch:
"We are very pleased that BPEX will now contribute to the German Road Safety Council with its expertise for more safety on
our roads. Parcel and express service providers are now significantly contributing to the functioning of social life. We all order various goods online and want them delivered promptly. At the same time, we sometimes lack patience, understanding, and respect for the delivery personnel. Besides adjustments in inner-city infrastructure, it is about a respectful coexistence in road traffic. We want to work intensively on this together now."
