To bring vital relief supplies more quickly to disaster and crisis areas, DSV and Unicef have expanded their strategic partnership. The expanded agreement includes providing more free air freight services for Unicef in the future. This is intended to help supply children worldwide with important relief goods more quickly, especially in acute emergency situations.
According to DSV, the intensification particularly concerns the area of humanitarian emergency aid, one of the three central pillars of the partnership. With this, DSV and Unicef complement their joint work to better supply children in crisis regions and to build more robust supply
chains for future challenges.
A year after the beginning of the three-year cooperation, Unicef draws an initial positive balance. Carla Haddad Mardini, Director of Private Fundraising and Partnerships at Unicef, stated:
"Saving and protecting children's lives is a joint task. The hard-won progress was only possible through the generosity of partners who contribute to helping children survive and thrive. Our partnership with DSV has been central to this mission. It provides critical support and resources that enable us to reach children in a timely and effective manner."
Since September 2024, according to its own information, DSV has transported
more than 85 tons of relief goods free of charge by air freight for Unicef. The deliveries went to seven countries, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo. There, DSV provided, among other things, 30 tons of medical supplies and tents for response to an Mpox outbreak. DSV also supported the first air transport in the context of Unicef emergency relief in Lebanon.
Jens H. Lund, Group CEO of DSV, emphasized:
"We are proud to contribute to the important work that Unicef does for children in need worldwide. As part of this partnership, we use our expertise, industry
experience, and global network in conjunction with Unicef's mandate to ensure timely access to essential relief goods for children in emergency situations. Together, we overcome logistical challenges and deliver even to the most remote regions."
According to DSV, a central element of the collaboration is foresighted planning. Pre-agreed freight contingents allow for immediate response after a crisis occurs. This is intended to reach children with relief goods in the early days of an emergency.
With the extended partnership, DSV aims to contribute to improving the global supply of essential goods in humanitarian emergencies, particularly where children are especially
