The DHL Group has completed the expansion of its Life Sciences & Healthcare Campus in Florstadt, Hesse. According to the company’s announcement to the press, the new logistics center Florstadt 4 is being created as one of the central European hubs for pharmaceutical products. It is expected to play a key role in DHL Health Logistics' global network in the future.

With the fourth warehouse, DHL is expanding the campus's total usable area to around 100,000 square meters. The new facility covers 30,000 square meters and is designed for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical and medical products. Products can be stored in multiple temperature zones in the warehouse, including chilled areas between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius and deep freeze areas down to -70 degrees. According to DHL, this ensures the highest standards for

storing and distributing sensitive biopharmaceutical products.

The new Florstadt 4 site offers around 140,000 pallet spaces and employs more than 600 specialists. They serve international clients in the areas of biopharmacy, specialty pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and clinical research. Besides storage, the team also handles services such as sample collection, supporting clinical trials, or handling cell and gene therapies.

A central feature of the expansion is the integrated cleanroom. This enables GMP-compliant processes for pharmaceutical raw materials, including the handling of solid and liquid hazardous substances, as well as API and active ingredient samples. DHL emphasizes that the facility meets international pharmaceutical standards and is designed for highly specialized requirements.

Hendrik Venter, CEO DHL Supply Chain for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, classifies the location as an important part of the

growth strategy.

“With this fourth expansion, we are creating capacities for the future in Florstadt: From here we supply customers not only in Germany but across Europe – and beyond,” says Venter.

The geographical location near Frankfurt and the transport connections played a central role in choosing the site.

Oscar de Bok, Global CEO DHL Supply Chain, sees Florstadt as a central element of DHL Group's long-term investment strategy.

“Florstadt 4 is a prime example of how we are concretely implementing our Strategy 2030: With total investments of two billion euros by 2030, we are strengthening our global DHL Health Logistics network,” explains de Bok.

The site is a backbone for end-to-end supply chain solutions in the field of modern therapies.

Regarding digitization and transparency, DHL speaks of "new benchmarks." The

warehouse management system is directly linked with customers' IT systems, which is particularly important for patient-specific products like clinical trials or temperature-sensitive specialty medications. Through close integration, DHL aims to make managing complex supply chains more efficient.

Rainer Haag, CEO DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps, on economic aspects: “The Frankfurt-Rhein-Main region is one of the most significant economic hubs in Europe. That we are consistently expanding our largest LSH campus in Germany here shows how vital Florstadt is as the centerpiece of our DHL Health Logistics strategy.”

Besides logistics infrastructure, sustainability plays a central role. The new warehouse is designed to be climate neutral and features solar thermal energy, air heat pumps, LED lighting control, and a photovoltaic system. The German Sustainable Building Council has awarded the project with the
