The two companies have signed an agreement to extend their existing partnership until 2040. This includes, among other things, retrofitting the ship "Amadeus Titanium" with a resource-conserving wind assistance system. VentoFoils are being retrofitted on the liquid coaster of the shipping subsidiary Amadeus Schiffahrts- und Speditions GmbH.
This is another step by the chemical group and the HGK Group to contribute to their own sustainability goals with improved energy balances and CO2 reductions. Stefan Kashelikar, Logistics Manager at Covestro Deutschland AG:
“This contract extension marks another milestone in our longstanding partnership with HGK Shipping. The
signing underscores our mutual commitment to safe, sustainable, and efficient logistics and strengthens our strategic collaboration for the years to come. We value HGK as a reliable partner who shares our vision of a sustainable transport chain and innovates with us.”
Resource-Conserving Wind Assistance System VentoFoils The wing-like VentoFoils feature integrated technology for active flow control. According to manufacturer Econowind, they automatically align according to wind conditions to optimally harness the resulting propulsion force. This concept would enable fuel savings of an average of around ten percent as well as a reduction in CO₂ emissions,

The preparations for retrofitting the "Amadeus Titanium" are to take place during a planned shipyard stay in September 2025. The complete installation of the system is scheduled for the end of the year. Besides Econowind, De Bock Maritiem B.V., the so-called

Converted from a dry coaster to a chemical tanker, the ocean-going ship has been exclusively in service for the chemical group in European short-sea traffic since October 2020. Amadeus Schiffahrt provides the ship and is responsible for the operational handling of ship logistics under a service contract. HGK Shipping has been serving the chemical group Covestro for over 80 years and is responsible for both sea and inland waterway transports, such as the pre-carriage from production sites in Germany to the relevant
