The Kombiverkehr KG and Shipzero are now collaborating on the accounting of transport emissions. The provision of emission balances for Kombiverkehr's customers is planned retroactively based on transports from the beginning of 2025. Jan Weiser, Head of Corporate Communications at Kombiverkehr KG:
"The background is, on the one hand, the increasing demands of forwarding companies, which are increasingly reliant on rail emissions values due to sustainability reporting."
At the beginning of this year,
there has been a renewed increase in requests for emission statistics from customer circles for transports in the last fiscal year. Weiser:
"As a provider of climate-friendly transport solutions, we also have an inherent interest in demonstrating the special environmental advantages of rail with tangible facts and promoting the use of sustainable rail."
Tracking rail transportsWith Shipzero, a partner has been found that brings the expertise and whose calculation methodology meets both the
current GLEC standard and the ISO 14083 standard. Martin Jacobs, Director of Client Solutions at Shipzero:
"We are, of course, pleased to have gained Kombiverkehr as a key player in intermodal transport as a partner. In collaboration, we want to precisely track transport processes to give the rail's advantage an additional boost through increased CO₂ transparency."
Both cooperation partners have started in the ongoing project after a conceptual phase now with the provision
of order data, which the software company receives anonymously from Kombiverkehr.
The development and setup of the calculation logic for transports are now being implemented by Shipzero, it is stated. Subsequently, the calculated emissions data should be automated and updated daily into Kombiverkehr's order processing system. Through interface solutions, the environmental balances then reach downstream IT applications with customer access. Weiser:
"The portal meinKOMBIVERKEHR is, among other places, a perfect location for this."
