The loading crane and truck-mounted forklift specialist Palfinger has expanded its service location in Duisburg and has now officially put it into operation. According to the company, the location is one of the largest in Germany and is intended to strengthen the global service network. The company is thus responding to the growing importance of the Rhine-Ruhr industrial and metropolitan region, one of the most dynamic economic areas in Europe.

The new location in Duisburg covers all product areas – from aerial work platforms and loading cranes to roll-off and skip loaders, forestry and recycling cranes, as well as truck-mounted forklifts. In addition to a 1,300 m² service hall, an

additional hall for the assembly of loading cranes and roll-off loaders with 645 m², as well as a new wash hall and work and training areas, are available. The expansion aims to improve the availability of machines in operation and provide space for future growth.

According to Gerhard Sturm, Senior Vice President Global Sales & Service at Palfinger, the company aims to increase service revenue to 700 million euros by 2030 with the expansion. The Duisburg location is also intended to serve as a strategic hub for sales and the expansion of regional partnerships.

“With over 170 partners across Germany and a strong global service network, we are already excellently

positioned today. The expansion in Duisburg is a targeted step towards strengthening our entire service footprint and caters to the growing demand for tailor-made solutions, such as in the field of aerial work platforms,” says Sturm.

Palfinger Platforms relocates from Krefeld to Duisburg

The number of service employees at the location is expected to increase from the current roughly 40 to up to 60. Additionally, Palfinger Platforms GmbH is relocating its previous site in Krefeld with around 35 employees to Duisburg. This will consolidate administrative and sales-related tasks in the future. Production had already been centralized at the Löbau plant in 2023.

Robert Laimer, Managing Director of Palfinger GmbH in

Germany, sees modernisation primarily as an opportunity to further develop the service offering in the region and improve service quality.

“With the modernisation in Duisburg, we are creating the optimal conditions to further enhance our service quality in the region,” says Laimer. “The significantly expanded areas and modern infrastructure allow us a consistent further development of our strong service offerings – and thus an even better customer experience on site in the future.”

At the official opening, nearly 300 guests took the opportunity to get to know the modernised premises. Presentations of innovative solutions and interactive experience stations, such as a crane VR simulator, provided additional insights into the company's
