The commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus has introduced new versions in the integrated business framework of its TGE transporter as part of the presentation of the renewed Next Level generation. The three-way tipper TRIGENIUS by Meiller and the truck combination with a box body by BE-Combi are the new additions to the transporter segment. This brings the number of different body offers available from the factory to 13. The assembled vehicles are covered by warranties and can be ordered by the customer directly and from a single source.

BE-Combi: With a passenger car driving license up to seven tons

The BE-Combi represents an innovative concept for logisticians. Here, the 3.5-ton GVW transporter is combined with a 3.5-ton trailer. The body manufacturer BE Combi converts the TGE with a subframe, fifth wheel, air supply unit, and intelligent braking system into a tractor unit. Additionally, there is the single-axle trailer 3500PLUS by BE-Combi with a lightweight box by the manufacturer Junge, a tail lift, and a roof spoiler. The semi-trailer combination has a total weight of seven tons. The key feature of this combination: drivers only require a BE driving license, not a class C license.

The system offers a payload of approximately 2,650 kilograms and a loading volume of up to 28 cubic meters, capable of transporting ten Euro pallets. This makes it a proposed alternative to the 7.5-ton truck, as the manufacturer advertises. Safety functions such as ABS and ESP are transferred to the trailer.

Meiller Trigenius: Weight-optimized tipper

The Trigenius by Meiller also possesses innovative features. It is a robust, weight-optimized three-way tipper made of Hardox steel with a high payload. This is achieved, among other things, through laser welding technology that connects thin high-strength steels. In combination with a 3.5-ton GVW TGE, the customer can load up to 951 kg. For a 5.5-ton TGE, it is up to 2,600 kg. New to the model are the one-ton lashing eyes on the sideboards for securing goods that protrude over the sideboard, as well as the floor lashing eyes with two-ton holding force, which are positioned far outside and accessible from both outside and inside. The Munich-based tipper specialist has also revised the sideboard locks, steps, and mudguards.

Certified body manufacturers

With the new Certified Van Partner program, MAN Truck & Bus, like many van manufacturers currently, is establishing a

binding quality framework for cooperation with body and conversion manufacturers. The goal is to ensure the diversity of individual vehicle solutions based on the TGE with clear standards and to strengthen collaboration with qualified partners. Certification is conducted by Van body manufacturer management and is based on a multi-stage testing process. Among other things, the quality of the finished vehicle, the successful completion of a compliance check according to factory specifications, as well as the completeness and maintenance of the company profile on the MAN body manufacturer platform ABBI, are evaluated, as outlined by the Munich-based company. Only those who meet all the criteria receive the certificate—valid for three years. Continuous monitoring and spot quality controls ensure the sustainability of the program.

Certified partners are expected to benefit from closer ties to MAN: This includes joint sales and marketing activities, invitations to technical and product meetings, as well as access to technical information and training offerings. Inclusion in the recommended body manufacturer list also increases visibility in the network and among end customers. The manufacturer itself hopes for greater transparency in the body and conversion process, a reduction in service cases, and a strengthening of the

brand through reliable partner standards. At the same time, customer satisfaction is increased through tested quality and coordinated processes, it is believed.

“As a truck manufacturer, we have maintained a close connection with body manufacturers for decades. With the Certified Van Partner program, we are now creating a reliable foundation for quality, efficiency, and trust—to the advantage of our van customers and partners,” promotes Roy Tietze, Head of the Van Body Manufacturer Management at MAN Truck & Bus.

The innovations in the special body constructions are part of the new presentation of the revised transporter generation called "Next Level", which comes with significantly extended standard equipment, improved driver assistance, safety, and infotainment, as well as telematics connectivity. These were already introduced last year. However, there is no longer an electric version available until the successor. This was phased out at MAN due to the discontinuation of the technical twin e-Crafter at VW Commercial Vehicles.
