The Dutch high-power charging (HPC) network pioneer Fastned is continuing to expand its network rapidly and has opened in Gelsenkirchen the seventh fast-charging station as part of the Deutschlandnetz, which is also located near the city. Near the A2 and A52 in the heart of the Ruhr region, you can charge quickly and comfortably at twelve charging points, each with up to 400 kW of charging power.
"With every new fast-charging station, we push the expansion of
the charging infrastructure in Germany further forward. Especially in densely populated areas like the Ruhr region, the new station creates real independence from the home charging point. With charging power of up to 400 kW, fast, spontaneous charging in the city becomes everyday life, and that is a decisive step to make electric mobility accessible to everyone," says Linda Boll, Country Director Fastned Deutschland.
Urban fast-charging hubs like the one in Gelsenkirchen, the provider sees as a
central building block of reliable charging infrastructure, because EV drivers can charge efficiently not only at their own wall boxes but also through car-sharing providers, delivery services, and corporate fleets, enabling time-efficient charging, regardless of parking space, time of day, or living situation.
"With the opening of the Fastned fast-charging station in the northern part of Gelsenkirchen, we as a city are taking another step toward electric mobility. The expansion of the infrastructure by twelve additional charging
points is necessary. This way we can guarantee faster and more flexible charging for our local electric-car drivers, as well as travelers," says Martina Rudowitz, Mayor of Gelsenkirchen.
