During the development phase, the new roundwood semi-trailer Logo 12 from Doll TimTech had already logged around 200,000 kilometres on roads and forest tracks.
To this end, the manufacturer produced a total of three vehicles. These were subsequently tested in practice by pilot customers from Germany, France, Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland over several months. The semi-trailer has successfully completed the prototype phase; production of the series can now begin.
Praxis-Erprobungen
“We tested the newly developed Logo 12 for twelve months under real conditions across the full spectrum of requirements in modern wood transport,” explains Daniel Spinner, Product Manager at Doll TimTech, and adds: “We wanted to find out how the vehicle behaves in transport operation on the road and in the terrain. The roundwood semi-trailer has logged around 200,000 kilometres — that corresponds to five circumnavigations of the Earth.”
After returning
from the customer deployment, the prototypes underwent a technical acceptance review. Technicians reportedly checked, in particular, weld seams, fastenings and heavily stressed points on the frame construction.
To tailor the trailer precisely to the requirements of wood transport, the results from the testing and the customer feedback were incorporated into the design adjustments, it is said.
“We specifically wanted to determine how stress peaks affect the material,” says Stephan Gerber, Development Manager for Wood Vehicles at Doll TimTech. “The values from our FEM calculations have been confirmed in actual operation — especially at the points where robustness and durability matter.”
Baukasten-System
The serial production of the new Logo 12 is planned to start in November 2025. The roundwood semi-trailer designed for long-haul and off-road use can be configured individually according to a modular kit system. Among other things, one can choose between variable
floor configurations, different load-securing components, and screw-on options such as an additional support or an access ladder.
According to Spinner, serial production makes it possible to shorten lead times and respond faster and more precisely to customer wishes.
The new Logo 12 can be ordered immediately, according to the manufacturer. Delivery of the first vehicles is expected by the end of 2025. The trailer is also available via the Doll Rapid Series, in which pre-produced vehicles should be available within a few weeks.
Technical Features
In the new Logo 12, the frame construction was completely redesigned. The two main members of the frame were additionally reinforced in the middle — this is intended to absorb torsional forces that occur especially in rough terrain.
The stiffening is helpful in off-road use on uneven forest roads with deep potholes, in ruts and switchbacks, or during
tight turning maneuvers, and it also provides more comfort, straight-line stability and a more stable driving behavior on the road.
The manufacturer promises robustness through the use of high-strength and durable fine-grained steel. The semi-trailer is also expected to score with a low own weight. The vehicle is available with a weight starting at 5.3 tonnes — and thus up to 15 percent lighter than its predecessor.

The front bulkhead has also been redesigned; it is one of the most heavily stressed components in wood transport. Now the four bulkhead supports are directly screwed to the frame, according to Doll TimTech.
The new, reinforced connection is intended to increase stability and reduce the vibration susceptibility of the roughly 2.5-meter-high component. The bulkhead complies with the DIN EN 12642 Code L standard. The approval of the new semi-trailer will be via a Europe-wide general certification.
