The online retailer Autodoc is pushing its expansion forward with a highly automated logistics center in Cheb, Czech Republic. In collaboration with TGW Logistics, a powerful intralogistics system is being created there, capable of handling up to 50,000 customer orders daily in the future – a volume that is currently distributed across three locations. This lays the foundation for further growth for the Berlin-based company and simultaneously strengthens the efficiency of its supply chain.

"At Autodoc, we aim to make our supply chain as efficient and future-proof as possible. With TGW Logistics, we have found a partner who understands our requirements precisely and impresses with a lot of experience and well-thought-out technology.

The solution is tailor-made, scalable, and sustainable – exactly what we need for our distribution center in the Czech Republic," said Sebastian Bleser, Vice President of Supply Chain at Autodoc.

Comprehensive modernization of existing building

As part of a brownfield project, an existing building is being comprehensively modernized and equipped with TGW's "FlashPick" system. The centerpiece of the facility is a shuttle warehouse with over 200,000 storage locations, where 200 robots handle the automatic storage and retrieval. Orders are assembled at 16 ergonomically designed picking stations before robots make the shipments ready for dispatch. A five-kilometer-long "KingDrive" conveyor system connects all parts of the facility.

"We are very pleased that we were

able to convince Autodoc with our experience and references in the spare parts sector," says Johann Steinkellner, CEO of Customer Unit Central Europe at TGW Logistics.

The system developed together with the customer is tailored to individual needs and is intended to serve as a blueprint for further joint projects.

Autodoc modernizes and expands logistics

A central goal is to align logistics sustainably. Through the use of modern automation technology, Autodoc can reduce energy consumption, lower space requirements by using an existing building, and decrease the number of required shipping boxes through automated packaging.

With the new facility in Cheb, the auto parts retailer continues its strategic logistics offensive. Previously, the company

had already put a 15,000-square-meter warehouse into operation in Belgium. In cooperation with the service provider Katoen Natie, central sales markets in Western Europe are intended to be served faster from there.

Autodoc was founded in Berlin in 2008 and has developed into one of the leading online retailers of vehicle spare parts and accessories in Europe. In 2024, the company, with around 6,000 employees, achieved a turnover of 1.6 billion euros and operates online shops in 27 countries. TGW Logistics brings its decades of experience as an internationally active system integrator into the project.
