With the new MirrorEye Multi-Purpose II (MP II), Stoneridge presents the next generation of its camera-monitoring system for buses and trucks. The further developed system combines high-resolution camera technology with advanced assistance features such as BSIS and MOIS, and thus meets central requirements of the EU Safety Regulation GSR-2. In addition, MP II offers new possibilities for video recording and integration into existing fleet solutions.

Stoneridge has introduced the next generation of its camera-monitoring system (CMS) for buses, coaches and trucks with MirrorEye Multi-Purpose II (MP II). The new system offers important safety features, including the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), the Moving Off Information System (MOIS), and a digital video output for recording and analysis.

MirrorEye replaces conventional side mirrors with HD cameras and cockpit monitors, thereby significantly improving the driver's visibility and reducing blind spots. MP II takes performance a step further and offers enhanced features

that support compliance with the European Union General Safety Regulation (EU 2019/2144).

“MirrorEye MP II not only meets the most important European regulatory requirements, but also goes a step further by improving the driver's situational awareness, optimizing fleet operations, and strengthening our commitment to safer roads,” said Natalia Noblet, Chair of the Electronics Division at Stoneridge.

Advanced features and greater flexibility

MirrorEye MP II features a range of new technologies, including:

  • Integrated surveillance camera: It uses the same high-quality lens and sensor technology as the side
  • cameras and thus provides a uniform and seamless visual experience across all displays. The footage from the surveillance camera can, depending on requirements in the cab, be transmitted to a dedicated 7"-monitor or to the system's existing 12.3"- or 15"- displays
  • BSIS and MOIS support: This system meets the important EU safety requirements. When in use, warnings are displayed directly on the monitors, so that the driver immediately receives visual cues tied to real-time camera views
  • Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) for detecting cyclists beside the
  • vehicle
  • The Moving Off Information System (MOIS) is used to detect pedestrians and cyclists in front of the vehicle
  • Digital video output: MirrorEye MP II features a new digital video stream output for external recordings. This function supports incident documentation, driver training, liability protection and helps in the event of an insurance claim

MirrorEye MP II also features infrared illumination, heated camera arms, and high-resolution displays designed for poor weather and lighting conditions. Thanks to its compact and modular design, it is suitable for both new
