The Nagel Group has fully digitized its loading equipment management as of August 1 at all 130 locations, according to the press release from the Versmold-based company dated August 26. After a testing phase in June and July at four pilot locations, the software solution from the startup Logistikbude has now been rolled out across Europe.
In early 2025, the Nagel Group had already announced a major digitization initiative. The aim had been to handle the reusable pallet and crate management company-wide via Logistikbude's SaaS solution. The startup offers a system for connected and
automated management of loading aids in real time, intended to make processes more transparent and, according to the company, unlocks potential savings in costs as well as resources.
Annually, the Nagel Group moves around 25 million EUR pallets, 35 million EUR boxes and three million H1 plastic pallets, according to its own statements. So far, management has largely been conducted via analog receipts, which made traceability difficult. With the new software, existing data from prior systems are utilized, enabling inventories and the whereabouts of the load carriers to be traced faster and more reliably.
“The close and collaborative cooperation with Logistikbude has significantly contributed to our ability to implement the rollout almost seamlessly. Together we managed to successfully digitalize a complex process within half a year,” says Björn Hobusch, Head of Operational Excellence & CSM & LEM at the Nagel Group.
“For the go-live, key users were comprehensively trained in training sessions, workshops and regular meetings. Even after the rollout, the solution will be further developed. Practical experience and user feedback flow directly in. Among other things, an AI function is planned that automatically analyzes pallet slips and
books them.”
“We always consider practical experience and the feedback of users to align our system with actual needs,” explains Philipp Hüning, co-founder and CEO of Logistikbude.
The Nagel Group itself sees numerous benefits in Logistikbude's solution. With real-time data capture, inventories are visible at all times, even for partners who do not themselves use the software. When fully used by all participants, the management runs almost automatically. In addition, the seamless documentation increases supply-chain security and reduces the need for back-up purchases and capital tied up due to fewer shortfalls, according to the
