Once again, Schümann presents at FACHPACK 2025 (September 23–25) its extensive portfolio of water-activated tape rolls for tamper-evident and sustainable sealing of cartons. The company is placing particular emphasis this time, according to a press release, on the fiber-reinforced 'UNIKRAFT' tapes, which in many supply chains are used as an extremely tear-resistant closure solution for heavy packages.
The UNIKRAFT water-activated tapes consist, according to the supplier, of two layers of kraft paper with a glass fiber veil laminated in between, and are intended to give the sealed cartons protection against tampering and theft. Thanks to their sandwich design, the UNIKRAFT
tapes are very well suited for sealing heavy packages as well as for use in international supply chains with sensitive goods, it is said. Packages and cartons receive with these fiber-reinforced water-activated tapes a sealing and airtight closure, which at the same time significantly increases their static load capacity. When they are also applied in a T- or H-format, they provide corrugated cardboard or solid-board cartons with a robust edge protection, according to the supplier.
Indissoluble Material Bond
The high security standard of these reinforced water-activated adhesive tapes from Schümann is attributed by the supplier to the material bond formed
between their moisture-activated adhesive coating and the carton surface immediately after application. Like all of the company's water-activated tapes, the UNIKRAFT package tapes can be applied in highly automated packaging lines as well as manually with user-friendly dispensing devices (dispensers).
Furthermore, the company demonstrates at FACHPACK, using numerous examples, how the entire carton packaging can be enhanced by printing the closure tape. The Schümann Print Service is now able to accommodate any customer request, according to the provider. Whether barcodes, safety notices, product information, transport tips, company logos, advertising messages or handling and assembly instructions: the possibilities to imprint UNIKRAFT
wet glue tapes with a single- or multi-color print are diverse. In many cases they replace printing on the cartons or the subsequent application of labels.
Customization already for small runs
Schümann already offers its print service from a minimum order of 150 rolls, each 200 meters long. This is intended to make the technical, communicative and visual enhancement of the carton packaging accessible to companies with small to medium shipping volumes. In particular, online retailers and e-commerce providers are increasingly making use of the additional flexibility offered by the Schümann Print Service, according to the supplier.
