The FACHPACK, European trade fair for packaging, technology and processes, and POWTECH TECHNOHPARM, an international trade fair for Process Operations, attracted 72,000 visitors to the NürnbergMesse exhibition grounds from 23 to 25 September. This was announced by the organizer, NürnbergMesse, on 25 September.
At the trade fair stands and in the accompanying program of FACHPACK, the community accordingly exchanged views on trends and innovations and discussed important questions surrounding circular economy, regulations, automation, digitalization and AI.
“The European packaging industry is undergoing change and presented itself at FACHPACK as highly innovative and solution-oriented,” says Phuong Anh Do, Director FACHPACK at NürnbergMesse. The atmosphere in the halls was consistently good, according to the event organizers. “The quality of the trade visitors was excellent. It is this distinctive hands-on mentality that characterizes the industry and plays into FACHPACK’s motto: We are shaping the future together,” summarizes Do the mood at FACHPACK 2025.
During the
three event days, the Nürnberg exhibition center became a meeting point for trade visitors from across Europe. The international share of guests stood at 37 percent. The visitors mainly came from key sectors such as food and feed, chemicals, pharma and medicine, cosmetics, retail, automotive, electrical and electronics, non-food, logistics, and packaging.
First Start-up Summit
Already on the day before FACHPACK 2025, Futury GmbH, in cooperation with the packaging fair and EIT Food, brought together for the first time about 100 players from the European packaging start-up scene at the FuturePack Summit. Young founders presented their ideas for the packaging world of tomorrow – from sustainable materials to digital tools and new business models.
Fresh ideas for packaging
Fresh, unconventional ideas and products for solving packaging questions were also found by visitors this year again among the start-ups in the packaging industry in Hall 3 at the subsidized BMWK joint stand "Young
Innovators" for young, innovative companies, as well as at the "Newcomer Pavilion" for first-time exhibitors or international newcomers in the sector.
The STUDENT DAY on the third day of the fair brought companies and packaging young professionals together. At the invitation of FACHPACK and the German Packaging Institute (dvi), more than 60 students from the German-speaking region met with professionals from packaging companies and brand manufacturers in workshops.
The second edition of the networking event WOMEN4PACKAGING was attended by 200 women from the industry. In two lecture rounds, seven speakers shared their experiences – including representatives from Mosca, Tchibo, Reo, Lavera, Werner & Mertz and the Carton Group.
Gold German Packaging Award Presented
On the first day of FACHPACK, the German Packaging Institute e. V. (dvi) once again announced the winners of the Gold Awards at this year’s German Packaging Award. The Gold Award went this time to AeroFlexx (Category Functionality &
Convenience), Dachser (Category Logistics & Material Flow) and Molkerei Gropper (Category Sustainability / Recyclability). A total of 37 innovative solutions from Germany, Iran, Austria, Switzerland and the United States were celebrated, having already been honored with a German Packaging Award in August.
New Event in the Pause Year
For the coming year, in which FACHPACK will take a regularly scheduled pause, NürnbergMesse plans a new event. On 16 and 17 June 2026, FACHPACK, Packaging Valley e.V., and Hüthig Medien will host the Packaging Machinery Conference at the Nürnberg Exhibition Centre. Under the motto "Innovation meets Strategy," a new industry platform for packaging machinery manufacturing and its customers is to be created. The conference will bring together leading minds and companies to discuss the future of packaging technologies—from AI to regulations, to best practices and new markets.
The next FACHPACK will take place from 21 to 23 September 2027 at the Nürnberg Exhibition
