With a ceremonial event, Andreas Maier GmbH & Co. KG (AMF) has opened its new logistics center in Fellbach, northeast of Stuttgart. Numerous guests from politics, business, and society as well as employees of the family business accompanied the commissioning of the modern building, which was constructed according to high sustainability standards, announced the full-service provider in clamping technology on July 17 in a press release.

On a ground area of 1,000 square meters, around 3,800 square meters of usable space for a fully automatic "Autostore" system were created in 30 months of construction. A shipping area

on the ground floor and a refinement area for the customer-specific final assembly of stored semi-finished products on the first floor complement the underground storage area. Two office floors, each with 1,000 square meters, and a green roof terrace complete the four-story building.

“We have successfully overcome all the challenges that arose during the pleasantly short construction period of only 30 months,” said Wolfgang Balle, the management board member responsible for the project.

The centerpiece is the "Autostore system" in the basement, which reaches ten meters in depth. Twelve robots in two transfer cells manage a storage

volume of 750,000 liters, accommodating 15,500 containers, 500 of which can be moved per hour.

Additionally, space has been created for 1,030 pallets, which can be loaded via four truck ramps. The logistics center secures ten jobs and has an additional air freight warehouse.

“This ensures we continue to provide fast and on-time delivery reliability for our numerous customers worldwide,” said Jürgen Förster, member of AMF's management board.

The forward-looking planning of the building allows for an expansion to almost double the capacity if needed.

The building meets the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council

(DGNB). “With this company size and this construction volume, that is still rather the exception today,” said architect Moritz Piske of Piske and Partner, whose office otherwise implements such standards primarily for large companies and corporations. Starting from the space-optimized densification on the existing company site, to roof greening, to windows that can be cleaned from inside instead of outside using boom lifts, all the requirements for the DGNB's Gold Standard were realized. According to AMF's assessment, the logistics center also has an appealing exterior façade with horizontal and vertical wave lines, making it a landmark in
