The Dutch project developer Today Real Estate Development, specializing in the construction of logistics and light industrial properties, is entering the international market for the first time and expanding into Germany. The developer is opening a new office on Düsseldorf's Königsallee – initially with a regional focus on North Rhine-Westphalia, according to a press release from Today Real Estate Development dated June 2. Further locations in Germany are in preparation and are to be rolled out gradually.

Responsibility for the German market entry is taken on by Rik John Klaarenbeek, who has been part of Today Real Estate Development since January 2024. He was brought on to build and lead the international expansion. In his role

as Managing Director Germany, he is to drive the development and expansion of activities in Germany. He is supported by Aref El Moarawi, who is responsible for acquisitions and business development. Previously, he spent about seven years at Savills in the Capital Markets area in Cologne.

Today Real Estate Development's product portfolio includes tailor-made concepts for logistics and commercial properties – customized to meet different user and location requirements. According to the developer, the so-called "Storage Club" is a modern, architecturally appealing alternative to traditional self-storage solutions, which is more efficiently usable. Today's core product and main business area is the modular concept "LAYERS." These are flexibly combinable entrepreneurial and business parks with individual units starting

at approximately 70 square meters, which are individually scalable. Compared to traditional business parks, LAYERS offer a much more fine-grained structure and thus appeal especially to small and medium-sized enterprises. The expanded version "LAYERS XL" follows the same principle, but targets users with larger space requirements and an expanded range of functions – such as for production, storage, and office under one roof.

“With our products, we want to cover the entire value chain in the light industrial segment – from small units to larger usage concepts,” said Klaarenbeek. “It's not just about the functionality and efficiency of the buildings, but also about creating places that are architecturally convincing and offer a high quality of stay.

We particularly want to create space for small and medium-sized businesses to grow – whether they are craft businesses, start-ups, or creative companies looking for a high-quality alternative to traditional commercial spaces.”

Their "LAYERS" projects offer the necessary flexibility for this. At many locations, real communities with tangible synergy effects have already developed – benefiting not only the users but also cities and municipalities.

In addition, Today develops sustainable and user-oriented logistics solutions – from modern last-mile concepts to large-scale big box logistics projects for logistics-intensive industries. According to the developer, the focus is not only on efficiency but also on a responsible approach to land use, for instance, through the integration of green spaces and
