The Fiege Group began construction on its new logistics center in Hessisch Lichtenau in October. The property, whose completion is planned for autumn 2026, will comprise just under 52,000 square meters of logistics space distributed across five hall buildings, as well as additional office and social areas. The logistics service provider announced this on 13 November via a press release. The construction project is being realized by Fiege Real Estate. The anchor tenant of the logistics center is Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, the European subsidiary of the Japanese tire manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI).

In planning and development of the EU taxonomy-compliant logistics center, Fiege reports placing a special emphasis on sustainability and aiming for a Gold certification (Version 2023) from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The new site of the more than 150-year-old family-owned company will feature resource-saving mineral wool insulation and energy-efficient LED lighting.
Heating is provided by sustainable air-to-air heat pumps. The electricity needed for this will be largely generated by a photovoltaic system on the roof, which will
provide a total capacity of 3,000 kilowatt-peak. In addition, automated building-management technology as well as smart monitoring tools ensure an optimized energy consumption of the logistics center, and a site-specific biodiversity concept has been developed.
