The Fiege Group begins in September with the construction work for its new logistics center in Hamminkeln. The property, whose completion is planned for autumn 2026, will have just under 55,000 square meters of logistics space for customers from various industries, according to a statement by the logistics service provider dated September 4. Hamminkeln is a town with city rights in the Wesel district of the Düsseldorf region. Through its proximity to the A3 motorway, the

new site is well connected logistically and integrates into the already existing Fiege logistics network on the Lower Rhine with locations in Emmerich and Bocholt, as Fiege stated. As part of the construction works, adjacent to the total almost 95,000 square meter plot, a new park-and-ride parking lot will be built on Isselburger Street.

The five-winged and multi-tenant hall, which Fiege Real Estate is planning and developing, will have mineral wool insulation and energy-efficient LED lighting.

Heating will be handled by sustainable heat pumps. The energy for this will be partially generated by a PV system that will cover the entire roof and provide a total capacity of 6,500 kilowatt-peak.

Thoralf Schuster, who leads the Real Estate division at Fiege together with Kai Alfermann and Nikolaus von Blomberg as managing directors, says: “Using green electricity and producing it ourselves with photovoltaics is a central pillar of our sustainability strategy. We pursue ambitious

expansion targets so that we can expand our logistics centers into small, sustainable solar power plants and by 2030 generate more renewable energy than we consume.”

Automated building management technology and smart monitoring tools are intended in Hamminkeln to ensure that the energy consumption of the new Fiege logistics center is optimized. For the building, the Greven-based family business aims for the EG-40 standard as well as a Gold certification (Version 2023) from the German Sustainable
