The contract logistics service provider Fiege has completed its new logistics center in Vienna. Through the property realized on the former Unilever production site at 7 Haidequerstraße, the family-owned company from Greven in Westphalia doubles its logistics space in the Austrian capital and strengthens its presence in the Alpine Republic, according to a Fiege press release dated September 19. On September 18, the new building was officially opened in front of around
100 invited guests.
The brownfield project was implemented by Fiege Real Estate. The new and two-story multi-user center holds just over 20,000 square meters of additional logistics space for customers in the areas of Consumer Products, Industry, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Fashion and Healthcare.
“As with all Fiege construction projects, we have also here placed a focus on sustainability,” said Joachim Stern, Managing Director of Fiege Austria. The new EU taxonomy-compliant logistics
center was built to high energy standards as well as with a PV system on the roof and meets the Gold status of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), Stern emphasized. “Furthermore, the site is designed for a variety of automation options and offers our customers optimal conditions for smooth logistics—from traditional warehousing to transport services to value-added services.”
“When we started our Austrian business in 1998, we probably would not have
thought it possible that, a good quarter-century later, we would open such a magnificent new site in the heart of Vienna,” said Peter Scherbel, a member of the Executive Board of the Fiege Group. “The new building represents a milestone for the entire Fiege Group—and it opens up the great opportunity to offer our customers in Austria efficient logistics solutions, maximum flexibility, and above all long-term growth opportunities in an exceptional top
