Zeitfracht Medien GmbH is restructuring its distribution logistics for the book wholesale in Germany and is fully relying on Last Mile Optimizer GmbH (LMO) as a central partner. Starting in August 2025, LMO will gradually take over delivery on the so-called last mile – like to bookstores. This was announced in a press release from Zeitfracht on July 28.

Accordingly, the cooperation is also another step towards sustainability for Zeitfracht Medien and its e-commerce brand Kolibri360: The new partner LMO focuses on sustainable and environmentally conscious solutions in local transport logistics. Through process optimizations, such as choosing shorter

transport routes or using shared tours for different clients, significant CO₂ savings are realized. This increases the load factor of the vehicles, which reduces consumption per unit of cargo transported. Additionally, LMO will use electric-powered delivery vehicles, which will be tested in practice at various locations starting early 2026.

"The partnership comes strategically at exactly the right time for us," says Philipp Glöckner, CEO of Last Mile Optimizer GmbH. "Our strength lies in supplying small-scale branches, and this is where we see our core business. The decision of such a traditional and high-volume company to fully outsource their

distribution to us confirms our competence and the sustainability of our business model."

In the wake of the new partnership, LMO has specifically invested in a modern fleet of vehicles to meet the increasing demands of fragmented consignment structures. The takeover of customer supply on the last mile for Zeitfracht underscores this focus on flexible, finely-meshed logistics solutions.

Zeitfracht Medien and Kolibri360 pursue a clear single-service-provider strategy with this step, aiming to consolidate processes, increase efficiency, and ensure quality, according to the company. Thomas Raff, Managing Director of Zeitfracht Medien:

"Through the close cooperation with LMO, we now

offer our customers all services from a single source in a challenging market environment. The use of the extensive LMO network enables us to ensure stable operational processing in local and long-distance transport, guaranteeing a consistently high level of quality at attractive prices in the future." Raff continues: "With this partnership, we are also advancing the ongoing digitization of our processes and our sustainability concept. Especially the overnight delivery in the book market requires resource-efficient and intelligent delivery models. With the decision for LMO, we as Kolibri360 also offer customers from other industries attractive logistics and transport solutions."
