MAN Truck & Bus is gearing up for future growth in zero-emission technologies in its spare parts supply sector. After a year of construction, the global logistics center in Salzgitter was expanded with a new construction phase as planned, MAN Truck & Bus announced on its website on May 12. From there, MAN delivers spare parts for trucks, buses, vans, and engines to customers and workshops worldwide. With the expansion, the company aims to create better conditions for the rapidly growing product portfolio in the field of electromobility. The opening took place together with Michael Kobriger, Board Member for Production and Logistics at MAN Truck & Bus, and Salzgitter's Mayor

Frank Klingebiel.

The new hall covers 53,000 square meters – about seven soccer fields. This expansion increases the logistics center with its good 800 employees by nearly a third to a total of around 235,000 square meters. In total, more than 220,000 parts will be stored there in the future, which are intended to be delivered to workshops worldwide in the shortest possible time after ordering.

“Our state-of-the-art logistics center supplies our customers and workshops in around 120 countries with parts for our vehicles at maximum speed from Salzgitter,” said Michael Kobriger. “Ensuring a secure and fast supply to our customers is the top goal of our spare parts logistics.”

This applies to millions of existing vehicles as well as the current models with alternative drives. For this, they need more space and cutting-edge logistics systems in addition to their highly qualified employees. This also strengthens MAN in Lower Saxony and makes the Salzgitter location future-proof.

Due to the ramp-up of zero-emission technologies, up to 12,000 specific e-mobility components such as batteries and other parts will be stored in Salzgitter in the coming years. After all, more and more electric vehicles from MAN are on the roads worldwide. Several hundred “eTrucks” from the company are rolling through Germany and Europe – and have already covered more than two million kilometers:

locally emission-free. Additionally, there are more than 2,000 fully electric buses worldwide. By 2030, around 50% of all new MAN vehicles delivered are expected to be electric.

In addition, Salzgitter currently stocks additional components for hydrogen trucks and the diesel powertrain “PowerLion” of the new model year 2025. In the future, the modular common platform of the Traton Group brands, the “TRATON Modular System” (TMS), will also take up a large part of the spare parts range. Up to 15 years after the series ends, all spare parts for MAN vehicles of all drive types are available in stock: from the smallest screw to heavy engines and entire driver cabins.
