When Hans and Martha Sander founded a haulage company in Itzehoe in 1925, trucks were still a rare sight on the roads of northern Germany. A century later, the company looks back on an eventful history—marked by continuity, change, and entrepreneurial foresight.

Sander Logistics is now a medium-sized company with around 250 employees, a fleet of 140 vehicles, and locations in Hamburg, Rostock, Halle, Moosburg, and the headquarters in Itzehoe. The entrepreneurial spirit of the founding generation has been preserved to this day, according to the press release

from July 7. The family influence has remained a central part of the company's identity.

The entry into the Hamburg branch in 1958 marked an initial step of expansion. Further milestones followed, such as the development of the Rostock location in 1995, joining the Cargoline network in 2005, and acquiring Norderstedter Transport- und Logistik GmbH and Jeschke Spedition in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Since the end of 2024, Sander Logistics has been part of the Duvenbeck Group. The merger was a strategic step to expand the service portfolio,

as Managing Director Jörg Schmeidler explains:

“The merger with the Duvenbeck Group was a crucial step to further enhance our performance—in quality, reach, and innovation.”

Despite being part of the Duvenbeck Group, the company continues to operate independently. The management hopes that being part of a larger network will lead to a stronger position in international land transport and the import and export business through the Port of Hamburg.

The family connection remains intact. Wolfgang, Leif, and Bernd Sander, great-grandchildren of the founding couple, are still active in

the company. In the announcement, they emphasize:

“We are a family business with heart, substance, and stance. Always close to customers and employees.”

Looking ahead to the coming years, Sander Logistics sees itself well-positioned. According to its own statements, the company is investing in digital processes, low-emission technology, and alternative drives. As part of the 2025 strategy, revenue of more than 80 million euros was achieved last year.
