ID Logistics continues its growth path in Germany and has signed a long-term e-commerce contract in a new building in close proximity to the Hanover region. A 60,000 square meter distribution center for seasonal products is scheduled to open there at the beginning of September this year.
With this, ID Logistics Germany expands its capacities in the Mittelweser Park to a total of 77,000 square meters of new building space as well as 206 car and 38 truck parking spaces. In the third quarter of 2024, the logistics company had put a 17,000 square meter e-commerce fulfillment center into operation there, among other things, for perfume and cosmetics.
A tailor-made logistics concept, as well as competence and implementation speed in the e-commerce business field, were decisive for the new business, it was said.
The future distribution center is intended to serve as a central hub for the storage of replenishment goods and their distribution to a multitude of sales outlets or other distribution centers.
Strong Location Mittelweser Park Nationwide, the logistics company operates specialized e-fulfillment centers for small to large and bulky goods, parcel sorting centers, specialized locations just for cosmetics, as well as delivery stations for the last mile. Robin Otto, CEO of ID Logistics Germany:
“In 2025, we will increase both our efficiency and our volume business. For example, after we triple our e-commerce capacities for another customer in an existing property in Dortmund, we are now quadrupling our space capacities within a newly built logistics park in Germany for the first time.”
It was further stated that an additional ten million euros are
to be invested, including around 3.5 million euros in a narrow-aisle system. This will increase the investment in intralogistics at the Mittelweser Park site to a total of around 15 million euros.
Around 350 employees are expected to be employed at peak times in the new distribution center. Thus, ID Logistics plans to employ up to a total of 600 employees at the location in the future. Gregor Eich, Director Project Management & Reengineering, responsible for the implementation of the project on site:
“We feel comfortable - and the region feels comfortable with us. The Mittelweser Park is a very nice logistics park, built according to the latest state of the art and sustainability. The geographic location and local labor market offer many potentials, and we are perceived as a good employer. In
all approval procedures, we have received constructive support from the municipality.”
This makes us want more, Eich continued. There is still a larger contiguous area available at the Mittelweser Park, and it is well-suited for another contract in the retail sector or for FMCG. Jens Beckmeyer, Mayor of the Samtgemeinde Mittelweser, and Jens Lange, Mayor of the Municipality of Estorf:
“The company ID Logistics has decided to significantly expand at the location after a short time. This shows that the framework conditions for further development are right in our Samtgemeinde Mittelweser. The location in the municipality of Estorf in the middle of the “Hanover-Bremen-OWL” triangle speaks for our region as a business location. We are pleased that ID Logistics has decided to establish a company location in the Samtgemeinde Mittelweser and is now
