During the ceremonial christening of the locomotive at the "transport logistic" trade fair in Munich, the hybrid locomotive was officially added to the fleet for flexible TransFLEX traffic in Germany.
The six-axle dual-mode locomotives from Stadler have an environmentally friendly electric motor and a diesel drive. They are intended to enable fast, continuous transport on electrified and non-electrified routes. This is advantageous, particularly for company-owned sidings, which are mostly not electrified, as no additional shunting locomotive is needed.
Clemens Först, CEO of ÖBB Rail Cargo Group:
“With the perfect equipment, we are bringing even more TransFLEX traffic onto the tracks in Germany. Together with our partner ELP, we were able to convince numerous customers of our new flexible offering last year. The now third EURODUAL locomotive makes even more sustainable ad-hoc trains for our customers possible across all segments, from mineral oil to automotive.”
Flexible deployments possible Under the motto "Your Spot Transport on Rail," companies
from all industries and sectors in Germany can book TransFLEX traffic. The cooperation partner for the RCG traffic is the personnel services and railway company MEV.
Since mid-April 2025, there has also been an additional TransFLEX connection to and from Burghausen. TransFLEX is now also available for traffic to and from Austria.
In September 2022, RCG started the pilot project with two locomotives and the number has since grown from two to 20. Each transport by rail makes
a noticeable contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions and supports companies in achieving their climate goals, according to the company. The combination of speed, reliability, and environmental friendliness makes TransFLEX an alternative in the logistics market and underscores the importance of rail as a sustainable mode of transport. Willem Goosen, CEO of European Loc Pool:
“Exactly seven years ago, we as ELP began deliberately and positively disrupting the leasing market in European rail freight transport—under the motto ‘Passion for
