The Pfenning Group aims to set new benchmarks for sustainable energy generation on an industrial scale at Multicube Münsterland—with over 5,000 installed solar modules and customized roof planning.
PV System
The photovoltaic system, which is expected to deliver a total capacity of around 2.3 megawatts, was built by Wirsol. The new project is intended to strengthen the long-standing collaboration between the company and the logistics service provider, it says. The system is one of the largest single projects Wirsol has implemented in the field of commercial and industrial buildings.
The electricity produced is to be used directly
on site and, in the event of excess, fed into the grid. A total of 5,138 photovoltaic modules have been installed on the roof surfaces. The PV system is expected to generate around 2,123,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year—and at the same time reduce CO2 emissions.
The logistics center, which is completed in 2025, is located in close proximity to Münster-Osnabrück Airport — due to the short distance, according to the company, special building regulations and height restrictions had to be taken into account.
Acht Wochen Bauzeit
On the green roof and the foil roof, different PMT
substructures were used. The mounting systems employed are said to be particularly suitable for implementing large roof areas.
A large-area mounting surface ensures even load distribution on the roof, and the cable management was designed for user-friendliness, according to the information. The entire DC installation was completed within eight weeks of construction.
“Our logistics properties offer enormous potential for sustainable energy generation with their large roof areas,” said Rana Matthias Nag, spokesperson for the management of the Pfenning Group.
According to him, the project in Ladbergen is intended to contribute to the company's and the regional energy
supply and to further strengthen energy efficiency within the corporate group.
“Such installations are a strong signal to the economy. Climate protection, energy efficiency, and economic thinking belong inseparably together and make companies future-proof,” said Johannes Groß, Managing Director of Wirsol.

The large-roof installation in Ladbergen is the eighth building of the Pfenning Group to be equipped with solar power by Wirsol.
In total, as part of the collaboration, roof installations at plant-scale capacity of almost 25 megawatts have been erected. Further large photovoltaic installations are planned, also in combination with battery storage.
