The Rhenus Group is continuously increasing its investments in Southeast Asia to strengthen its presence along important global trade routes. Chris Bode, Vice President Global Air Freight, Rhenus Air & Ocean:

"Southeast Asia is an important growth market for air freight at Rhenus. The gateways are at the center of the company's latest expansion plans and go beyond the worldwide promise to provide reliable, customer-oriented logistics solutions. They are designed with scalability in mind and integrate the latest digital and sustainable logistics solutions to enable flexibility and efficiency for our global customers."

From Southeast Asia to

the World

This year, air-freight gateways have been established in important regional trading hubs such as Singapore and Bangkok, and we are building on the already existing site in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to optimize freight flows within Southeast Asia and along global trade routes. These strategic gateways strengthen our presence along, among other central corridors:

  • Kuala Lumpur: Handling inbound cargo from Europe and outbound cargo to Oceania
  • Singapore: Handling inbound cargo from Asia or Oceania, as well as outbound cargo to the Americas
  • Bangkok: Handling outbound cargo to Europe and functioning as a multimodal hub to
  • strengthen intra-Asia trade through regional air freight and cross-border road transport

The gateways can be flexibly expanded in stages and offer door-to-door services, customs clearance, freight consolidation and air freight services, it says. They would also be operated through technology-enabled solutions such as intelligent logistics platforms, real-time tracking and digital documentation to optimize processes.

At the same time, sustainable logistics initiatives, such as the use of electric vehicles for pre- and post-haulage trips, optimized routing and low-emission transport options, are integrated in all three gateways. Joachim Hanssen, CEO APAC, Rhenus Air & Ocean:

"In light of

recent global developments, including the China+1 strategy, more and more companies will increasingly view Southeast Asia as an increasingly important part of their global logistics plans. Rhenus has always been committed to this and remains dedicated to supporting our customers in these fast-growing markets. We are confident that our strategic plans to expand our capacities in this region—by strengthening resilience and operational agility—will position us as a preferred partner to meet the changing regional and global trade requirements."

Looking ahead, the company intends to continue pursuing strategic investment opportunities in Southeast Asia and the broader APAC
