DHL has begun its preparations for the 2025 Christmas season and expects in the coming weeks a particularly high parcel volume. In particular in November and December the company anticipates a clear increase in parcel shipments.

Hiring drive for high parcel volumes

To reliably handle the rising volumes, DHL has hired around 10,000 additional temporary workers. They support the more than 150,000 employees in sorting centers and in delivery. According to the company, the temporary workers are paid

according to tariff wages, just like the company's own employees. Nikola Hagleitner, Executive Board member for the German mail and parcel division of DHL Group, emphasizes:

„Our corporate and private customers can rely on us. We look forward to contributing to successful holidays.”

Expanded fleet of vehicles and delivery tours

In addition, the company has leased 11,000 vehicles to secure the logistics in the pre-Christmas season. On peak days, around 14,800 parcel delivery tours are planned – about

5,000 more than on a normal day. According to the information, DHL supplements the offering with flexible evening tours and direct trips to Packstations. These measures are intended to ensure that even with highly fluctuating parcel volumes all deliveries arrive on time.

Shipping deadlines at a glance

For domestic DHL Express shipments, DHL recommends sending them by December 22, 2025 at the latest. For international shipments, earlier submission deadlines apply depending on the destination country. DHL therefore recommends

sending packages early to ensure timely delivery.

Planning and coordination with business customers

Hagleitner points out that fluctuations, particularly from promotions such as Black Friday and Cyber Week, place high demands on planning and control. According to the information, DHL is in close contact with business customers to coordinate shipment volumes as effectively as possible.

„We are aware that the pre-Christmas period is particularly challenging for our business customers and for us as a logistics partner,” explains Hagleitner.
