DHL Supply Chain has brought a climate-neutral logistics center in Halle (Saale) into operation with 34,000 square meters of warehouse space and up to 55,000 pallet positions. The new building is integrated into the DHL Campus Leipzig/Halle and expands regional capacities for warehousing, order picking and other logistical services. Through its connection to road, rail and air freight infrastructure, the site strengthens regional distribution and international supply chains.

DHL Supply Chain put a new

logistics center into operation in Halle (Saale). The facility is located in the vicinity of the Leipzig/Halle hub and represents the division's third site in the region.

Location and Connectivity

The new building is integrated into the DHL Campus Leipzig/Halle and already offered initial logistics services for customers at launch. The advantageous location enables connection to the national DHL Parcel and Express network, to rail and motorways, as well as to Leipzig/Halle cargo airport.

The proximity to the airport allowed late cut-off times up to 22:30 for international shipments.

Capacities and Technical Equipment

The logistics center comprised three halls, each with 10,500 square meters of space. In total, 34,000 square meters of storage space and up to 55,000 pallet storage positions were available. The property had 27 loading docks. The facility met the DGNB Gold standard and was equipped with photovoltaic systems as well as LED lighting.

Services

and Industry Focus

The site enabled warehousing, order picking and the handling of hazardous materials and batteries. In addition, value-added services and automated solutions for various industries were developed. The facility served to expand logistics capacity in the technology sector and other industrial sectors.

Personnel and Expansion

At the start, the site employed more than 450 employees. As utilization of the expansion building increased, around 100 additional jobs were to be added. (av, source:
