The international contract logistics provider ID Logistics is expanding its service offering in Germany. From mid-October 2025, the company will operate a new site in Lichtenfels (Upper Franconia) for end-customer delivery of large-volume household appliances. With this, ID Logistics aims to offer all operational stages of the e-commerce supply chain from a single source – from fulfillment through middle mile to the last mile.

3,000 square meters of hall space for white goods

The new site in the south of Coburg comprises around 3,000 square meters of hall space and is specialized in the distribution of so-called white goods. This includes electric household large appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, dryers or air-conditioning units. The products arrive at night from upstream fulfillment centers, are sorted according to the target addresses of the end customers, and are loaded

in the early morning hours for delivery. ID Logistics will organize the operation in Lichtenfels in a two-shift system.

The location offers good transport connections to central economic regions such as Nuremberg, Bamberg, Hof, Schweinfurt and Erfurt. The property is located at An der Zeil 15, 96215 Lichtenfels, on a plot of around 11,500 square meters. The owner of the property is a private investor. The building enables both delivery by truck and delivery to end customers with sprinters.

For the technical equipment, ID Logistics is investing over 100,000 euros in IT systems and network cabling. The new site is, after the hub in the Port of Hamburg, which went into operation in Q3 2024, the second in Germany that the company uses for last-mile services.

Comprehensive service package for e-commerce customers

Robin Otto, CEO of ID Logistics

Germany, points to the continuous growth of online shopping and sees the company well positioned to offer e-commerce customers a seamless service package along the entire logistics chain in the future.

“With the second site for last-mile delivery in Germany, we are manifesting our strategy to offer our e-commerce customers, in addition to highly specialized fulfillment and the middle mile, all levels of service of the e-commerce supply chain. Against the backdrop of the continuing growth of online trade, we see ourselves well positioned for further contracts in this area as well,” Otto said.

ID Logistics invests in logistics space

The parent company ID Logistics, headquartered in France, operates around 450 locations worldwide in 19 countries and manages more than nine million square meters of logistics space. In Germany, ID Logistics has recently invested in sites in Hanover

and Kaiserslautern.

In Kaiserslautern, the logistics provider, as part of an accelerated contract extension, is expanding the 40,000-square-meter e-fulfillment center and will raise the number of its permanently employed staff there from 185 to around 200 by the end of the year. Among the positions sought are forklift drivers and warehouse helpers for activities such as picking, packing, loading, goods receipt and storage.

In the Mittelweser Park logistics center near Hanover, ID Logistics has signed a lease with the investment manager BGO and the Aachen-based project developer Thirteen Seven. The logistics service provider secured around 60,000 square meters of space in five units. With the new agreement, the total rental space of ID Logistics in Mittelweser Park rises to around 76,000 square meters. Since 2024, the company has been using around 17,000 square meters of water-hazard-class compliant logistics
