Automobile and mechanical engineering supplier Schaeffler from Herzogenaurach in Franconia operates a modern training center at its Bühl location near Baden-Baden. There, the specialist in engine, transmission, and chassis components prepares young people for their careers in twelve training courses and study programs. The company will provide information about how the courses are structured, from the application process to the content, on Friday, July 4, 2025, from 4 to 9 p.m. at its third "Night of Training".

Young people are invited to participate in the event with friends and family – directly at the headquarters of the "Powertrain & Chassis" division at Industriestraße 3 in Bühl. In the training center, which was modernized and reopened only last year, trainees provide guests with insights into their everyday life as "apprentices" and students. Additionally, interactive stations invite attendees to experience the learning content of the industrial and commercial training professions, the Two-In-One trainings, and the dual study program.

Get to know the company, teams, and offerings

According to Christian Birk, head of training at Schaeffler in Bühl, attendees can not only learn about the training content itself at the event but also get to know the teams working there and the family business to see if the concept appeals to them. "We want

to invite young people to begin their career entry after school with qualified training at the Bühl location".

Schaeffler has been one of the major players in the automotive industry for over 75 years and has four locations in Germany – in addition to the headquarters in Herzogenaurach and the training center in Bühl, also in Schweinfurt and Frankfurt. Globally, the group is represented more than 250 times in 55 countries. As one of the largest family-owned companies, Schaeffler today brings together around 120,000 employees under its roof.

Those who find their way into the company will later be offered a wealth of opportunities internally. As a global mobility supplier, the technology group has an extensive network and aims to not only care for its newcomers but also for the further career advancement of its employees. To this end, corresponding investments in training and development are provided, offering a variety of opportunities for professional qualification and career planning – "including in international exchange between the companies of the Schaeffler Group," as stated on the website.

Diversity of modern professions

At the Bühl training center, school graduates have twelve vocational training and study options to choose from. The company names the following training professions: industrial mechanic, tool mechanic, electronics technician for automation

technology, mechatronics technician, industrial clerk, and IT specialist.

Interested parties will also be informed about the content of the study options. For example, a dual study program can be enrolled in packaging technology. And a "study plus training" program is offered in the fields of mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, and industrial engineering.

There is also an opportunity to gain a first impression of the training period with a student internship – young people can also receive direct advice on this on the information day. Helpful tips on application procedures and aptitude tests are also available.

In all professions and fields of study, contact persons are available to answer questions. In addition, more than 30 trainees participate at the various stations and provide information about everyday professional life.

Industry 4.0: Focused on the future

In 2024, the training and education center at the Bühl location was modernized – for an amount of around four million euros. The measure was carried out simultaneously with changes in the company structure. "With this, we have made the training in Bühl fit for the future," says Andreas Maier, plant manager of the Schaeffler plant campus in Bühl. "We are specifically strengthening the occupational groups that we will continue to rely on at the location in

the future."

Schaeffler has repeatedly emphasized the increased investment in electromobility. For example, at the beginning of 2024, in the USA, a state-of-the-art production facility was planned. The company has brought its training offerings up to date in recent years: "Trainees and dual students are learning significantly more content about digitalization and Industry 4.0 solutions," reports the group.

On the information day, Schaeffler technologies will be demonstrated in various areas of the training center: Driving simulators, for example, invite virtual rides in the racing taxi. And there will also be entertainment and refreshments with music, food trucks, and an ice cream truck. Photos to remember the event can be taken indoors with a photo booth.

And at the interactive stations, attendees can practically try out how to bend roses from metal or label pens and spinning tops with a laser. The welding system, on the other hand, is "only" operable virtually. But there is also a training robot against which guests can compete in Tic-Tac-Toe. Besides, the organizer says, a raffle with attractive prizes awaits visitors.

Access to the event is via Dieselstraße in Bühl. According to the information, there are enough parking spaces available at Industriestraße, the official address. Signs indicate the way to the training center. Registration is not
