Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has introduced new heavy-duty trucks under the BharatBenz brand for the Indian market. According to the company, the offering is aimed specifically at customers in the construction and mining segment.
The new BharatBenz HX series includes the models 2828C HX and 3532C HX. They are designed for use in construction and are available in two engine variants: with 280 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque, and with 320 hp and 1,250 Nm. The trucks come standard with hill-start assist, integrated front axle bearings, a wind deflector to improve
aerodynamics and a driver-attention monitoring system. The 2828C HX model achieves, according to the manufacturer, a gradeability of up to 60 percent, while the 3532C HX goes up to 54 percent. A newly developed rear axle designated IRT440-11 increases payload. In addition, an optimized approach angle provides more ground clearance under challenging off-road conditions.
Torqshift Series with Automatic Transmission
In addition to the HX series, DICV has introduced the BharatBenz Torqshift series. The models 2832CM and 3532CM are equipped with the G211-12 Powershift 3 automatic transmission from Daimler Truck. Also new in the program is the variant 2828C Ready Mix Concrete (RMC). It
offers a mixing capacity of 9 cubic meters and is powered by the OM 926 BSVI OBD-II engine with 280 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque. This variant is intended for transporting concrete in demanding terrain.
Real-world field tests
According to DICV, all new models were tested in collaboration with customers on construction sites and in mines across India. More than 150 vehicles were deployed. The results showed higher uptime and improved fuel efficiency.
Production and Development in Oragadam
BharatBenz produces all models in Oragadam near Chennai. The plant covers 160 hectares and houses, in addition to manufacturing, a test track and the
company headquarters with research, development and training facilities. The vehicles are manufactured entirely on site, with components sourced from Indian suppliers.
Sales and Service Network in India
The BharatBenz dealer network comprises 385 locations according to the company. Services are secured through maintenance contracts of 15,000 hours per year. The Uptime Center Hub combines diagnostic technology, data analysis and real-time vehicle monitoring to support fleet operators in preventive maintenance and reduce unplanned downtime.
